What Copilot’s Early Users Are Teaching Us About AI at Work

Eight months ago, Microsoft 365 Copilot was launched with a bold goal: to ease digital overload and help people focus on work that really matters. Since then, the big question has been—can generative AI actually change how we work?

The early results are in, and they’re worth paying attention to. At Integrato, we’ve been following the numbers closely and they show that AI is already making a measurable difference in productivity, creativity, and time savings. We’re seeing how Copilot is reshaping workflows, speeding up everyday tasks, and helping people get to better results faster.

One thing is clear: once people use Copilot, they don’t want to go back. 77% of early users said exactly that.

But this is just the beginning. The bigger opportunity lies in how organizations use generative AI not just for individual productivity but to raise the bar across the board. With tools like Copilot, employees at all levels can improve how they write, analyze data, design, and solve problems taking their work from good to great.

Here’s what stood out from the first wave of data:

Quick Takeaways

  • 70% of users said they’re more productive with Copilot.
  • 68% reported better quality in their work.
  • Users completed tasks like searching, writing, and summarizing 29% faster.
  • Catching up on missed meetings? Nearly 4x faster.
  • 64% said they now spend less time processing email.
  • 85% said Copilot helped them get to a good first draft faster.
  • 75% said it saved them time finding what they needed in their files.
  • And again 77% didn’t want to give it up after trying it

Digging Into the Data.
The Microsoft 365 Copilot Early Access Program surveyed 297 users and ran hands-on experiments to see how people were using the tool in real work scenarios. The feedback shows consistent benefits across the board.

Productivity and Time Savings

  • 73% said they could complete tasks more quickly.
  • 87% said it made starting a first draft easier
  • 84% said it helped them take action after meetings
  • 71% saved time on repetitive, mundane tasks.
  • On average, users saved about 14 minutes per day adding up to 1.2 hours per week.
  • 22% reported saving more than 30 minutes every day.

So what did they do with that extra time? Most said they used it for deeper focus work. A few, though, said they ended up in more meetings which raises a flag: the time saved by AI should be reinvested wisely.

Creativity and Quality

  • 57% felt more creative with Copilot’s help.
  • 68% said it kick-started the creative process.
  • 72% said it helped generate new ideas while writing.

As James Thomas, Global Head of Technology at Dentsu Creative, put it: “It’s not there to replace people it helps them get to their ideas faster.”

What This Means for Teams and Leaders

This early data is more than just promising it’s a wake-up call for organizations looking to stay competitive. Tools like Copilot are changing how people approach everyday work. But the real power comes when that impact spreads across teams, departments, and business units.
Generative AI isn’t just about speed it’s about raising the standard of work across the board.

Final Thought

We’re still early in the journey, but the direction is clear. If these early results are any indication, tools like Copilot aren’t just helpful they’re becoming essential. For leaders and IT teams, now’s the time to think about how to bring these benefits to the rest of your organization and what it means for the way we work going forward.
